Restoring Vintage Army Truck Air Horns
I restored an old set of Hadley No.765 Air Horns. These were originally used on Deuce and a half trucks, and also Jeeps. The brass diaphragm was broken, so I made a new one from half hard brass, and then vapor blasted them. Sounds good again. 127 decibel max output.

    I’m a woodworker and have been using this method for over 20 years on my drill press when I have to drill wooden dowels. It works easily with large diameter dowels (or metal pipe/rods) but a little more time is required for smaller diameter pieces. Great job explaining to everyone.

    Excellent work, sir! As a jazz guy, I would suggest that you consider exploring the use of whole tone and diminished whole tone (aka "altered dominant" scales on future projects. You DEFINITELY have the "chops" for it. Very impressive.

    10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (The Great I AM, YHVH, El Shaddai, Adonai, God of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham). John 3:10-18

      It does to some degree, but the length of the horn also plays a part. The screw has to be set to a certain depth, otherwise the diaphragm won't resonate.

    See now i've been thinking about this topic for awhile wouldn't an automotive intake from a luxury vehicle work better? Not only is it built with baffling and chambers to quiet induction noise just like from a compressor but it also has an integrated air filter. Im going to hit up the local pick yard and test my idea.

    All American Sharpener has a blade balancer they sell that is very similar to the one here. The only real difference is that the base is spring loaded so that the cone automatically adjusts to the diameter of the mounting hole on the blade. It's made in the U.S.A. and is all metal.

    I will just throw it out at the risk it has already been asked: If one wanted to find the center of an existing hole in a surface, could a ball bearing resting in that hole be used with a plate, in a similar fashion? Perhaps if the hole were made with a center drill? I'm new to this and I see from comments that this is called a "tangent indicator." My situation is: circular column mill with a "wobbler" center finding indicator which is much longer than the tool I want to center, hence hard to find the center and also keep the quill close to the work piece.

    • @ArnoldsDesign
      @ArnoldsDesign 2 місяці тому

      Ball bearing is a good idea imo. It would also get you close. It might take more maneuvering bc it's leveling in 2 axis, but still workable. Something I will try sometime.
